As part of our growth initiative for the South West of England, we are seeking an experienced, well organised and self-motivated Mechanical Estimator to manage a team of Estimators to develop and deliver effective and competitive quotations for new mechanical contracting requests in the area.

In this role, you will establish positive relationships with clients, with the aim of sourcing profitable mechanical building services projects. This will involve preparing accurate estimates and tender documentation, evaluating technical requirements, estimating costs, determining prices and margins and creating quotations to potential customers in both the public and private sectors ensuring both the customer and business needs are met. You will liaise closely with the Business and Mechanical Managers, Estimating Managers, Mechanical Contracts Engineers and Area Development Managers during the tender process, therefore excellent communication and negotiation skills will be key to your success.

Having completed a craft apprenticeship (or recognised equivalent) and developed competence to the level of BTEC (or recognised equivalent), you will have sound knowledge and strong technical experience of mechanical installation and maintenance work. You will also be able to evaluate bid opportunities and liaise with potential clients, working within project deadlines. You'll have a good understanding of technical drawings and be able to take off quantities.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in an organised, accurate and methodical manner and have a natural ability to build effective working relationships, working well both individually and as part of a team. Strong IT skills, including use of estimating software (such as Amtech Estimation or similar), are vital as is the ability to use electronic portals for bid submissions.
