Location - Perth

Our client, a successful engineering manufacturing business is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Management Accountant.

This role is based in Perth a short commute from Dunfermline.

Purpose of the role

The successful applicant will assist the Business Controller to achieve the business objectives by understanding the business drivers and giving efficient, reliable and proactive financial support and analysis to all key stakeholders.

Education

Degree in Business/Finance or Professional Accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)

Primary Responsibilities

Perform Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of periodic budgets and quarterly forecasts (preparation, completion and input onto the financial reporting systems)

Perform period end reporting analysis

  • Assist in preparation of monthly and annual accounts including inter-company reconciliations, factoring, manual invoicing, journal entries, accruals and prepayments.
  • Provide monthly balance sheet review analysis including housekeeping on purchase orders. AP and AR ledgers.
  • Responsibility to provide support on invoice coding and approval, supplier payment proposal and ad-hoc query resolution in all transactional matters. Assist and guide AP and AR team members.
  • Provide input to the financial periodic reporting, acting as constructive business partner with the CAS UK organization.
  • Provide support to the management team, purchasing, production and all relevant staff relating to routine reporting activities including ad-hoc information requirements with commentary and variance analysis.
  • The responsibility to provide the business with input to follow up the performance of the production unit with monthly expenditure reports for R&M, R&D and other key areas identified.
  • Work with the Research & Development teams with the administration, recording, evidences and submission of claims required by the Scottish Enterprise Grant process.
  • Actively participate/lead in the stock count process (including cycle counts) and produce the reconciliation to the nominal ledger.
  • Experience with standard costing of manufactured products would be beneficial

Manage Capital Expenditure

  • Assist with capital project evaluation and reporting requirements and physical asset counts where required.

Perform Analysis and Monitoring

  • Assist with business analysis including:
    • Sales analysis & Product mix analysis
    • Cost analysis
    • Inventory controlling
    • Production efficiency and effectiveness
    • Gross profit analysis (local & group)
    • Accounts payable and receivable monitoring and compliance with terms
    • Tax packs, Transfer Pricing and R&D Tax rebates.

Performance Management

  • Assist with:
  • Monitoring progress of activities
  • Performance driver evaluation
  • Implementation of corrective action
  • Supporting continuous improvement management in conjunction with local CAS and Central BA/PA teams.

Develop Business Partnering

  • Assist with:
  • Developing reporting within finance, purchasing and stores areas.

Develop Finance Community

  • Input into continuous improvement of the efficiency of the onset finance function
  • Contributing to networks within business control and finance including the implementation of any new systems required.

Financial Controlling

  • Provide and act as a speaking partner to the internal and external auditors in the yearly review
  • Participate in the Internal Control process
