Role synopsis

This role is accountable for the complete site maintenance of all Company Owned and operated sites (COCO), Company Owned and Franchisee operated (COFO) retail sites across the UK. The execution of maintenance activities is through specialized maintenance contractors.

Key accountabilities

  • To develop and implement standards for maintenance and deliver maintenance services for ca. 375 CO retail sites in the UK. Optimise and enable implementation of projects at pace whilst looking for regional procurement optimisation opportunities and technological breakthroughs to enable cost effective application of the maintenance Strategy.
  • To manage and deliver safely all maintenance and inspection activities for UK, circa $50m pa
  • Act as the maintenance community of practice lead for delivering safe and reliable maintenance services and safety leadership through the various maintenance contractors covering fuel services, carwash, shop equipment and forecourt.
  • Management and functional leadership of the UK maintenance teams
  • Designing, formulating and developing maintenance standards and updating appropriate strategies, especially shop/food service, fuels systems; working with Procurement to maximise regional opportunities on behalf of Retail Europe.
  • Controlling and handling special projects, e.g. introduction of new fuels etc. with the involvement of other technical departments

Essential education

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Experience in a customer-facing Maintenance, Facilities Management or Operational role.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships, across all levels and within the Contractor community, gaining the respect and confidence of others.
  • Contract management experience
  • Large scale budgetary management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills particularly in managing conflicting priorities.
  • Extensive experience in a comparable role
  • Good knowledge of the retail business
  • Very strong grasp of technical aspects and great affinity for business management
