Roles & Responsibilities:

This role will involve, but is not limited to:

  1. Repair of all electrical breakdowns throughout the plant.
  2. Modify and improve procedures and programmes as required.
  3. Carry out preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment as required.
  4. Identify and report any signs of equipment failure.
  5. Ensure that all documentation is kept up to date i.e. logbook, programme additions, changes etc.
  6. Installation and commissioning equipment and services as requested.
  7. Isolation and de-isolations in accordance with permit to work code of practice.
  8. Assist with other engineering work when and where required as directed by Electrical Supervisor.
  9. Adopt and maintain good engineering and housekeeping procedures in all work area.

Skills & Knowledge

The post holder requires to:

  • Be a person who possesses a wide range of industrial maintenance skills
  • Be able to work safely and unsupervised or as part of a team
  • Application and maintenance of various types of instrumentation
  • Have good interpersonal skills to allow appropriate on site interaction
  • Have good time management skills to concentrate efforts on the more important priorities
  • Have good Problem Solving skills using logic to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Have excellent planning skills, being able to accurately scope out the length and difficulty of tasks and projects

Qualification(s) / Experience)

Essential

  • Must have strong Health and Safety awareness
  • Time served electrician.
  • Qualified to City & Guilds level or above
  • PLC knowledge - Preferably Allen Bradley 5/40. Siemens Step 5.
  • Industrial maintenance experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Commitment to out of hours' callouts is expected

Desirable

  • It would be a strong advantage to have previous experience within the wood mill industry.
  • Previous PLC knowledge/experience
  • Strong maintenance background
  • Working experience in a 365 day 24/7 environment

Flexibility

The post holder must recognise the need for flexibility in his /her position due to the specific demands of the role. To this end he / she must:

  • be willing to travel to other locations to assist with audits, training, and other duties as required
  • be willing to work reasonable additional hours to cover situations such as absence of colleagues or breakdowns
  • be willing to support other areas of plant
