Orion Group are looking for a Locum Pharmacist Junior for our multinational healthcare company based in the Dublin area on an initial 12-month part-time contract with the potential to extend.

Job Purpose:
The Locum Pharmacist would be acting in a support pharmacist role one full day (8 hours) or two half days (2 X 4 hours) per week and would be assisting with the dispensing duties on those days. The locum pharmacist would also be responsible for providing holiday cover. The role will be based in a homecare pharmacy in a facility in North Dublin.

Main Responsibilities of the role:
The Locum pharmacist is accountable and responsible for the following activities:

  • Daily home patient dispensing of medicinal products manufactured in the Dublin
  • Compounding Facility and other client facilities, and ancillary medicinal products. Products to be dispensed include client Dialysis products, chelation products and aseptically manufactured antimicrobial products for the OPAT service
  • Performance of administration tasks associated with the dispensaries in Dublin
  • Maintenance of professional status and standards
  • Participating in continuous professional development and complying with client specific training requirement
  • Generating all relevant paper work and dispensing records and ensuring records are up to date and stored in accordance with the relevant pharmacy legislation
  • Compliance to PSI standards and regulations
  • GDP (Good Distribution Practice)
  • Compliance to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a dispensary that is registered as a retail pharmacy business by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (experience as a pharmacy intern will be considered)
  • Meticulous and demonstrate good attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and respond well to time constraints
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Good professional standards and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team based environment, and the ability to manage a wide range of specific tasks
  • Good organisational and coordination skills
  • Good communicator and team worker

    Further Details
  • The locum pharmacist will be required to work eight hours per week (with one-hour lunch break) in a homecare pharmacy. There is flexibility around the day/times of working day(s). There is potential for locum hours to be increased in the future.
  • Locum will be required to provide holiday cover for Supervising Pharmacist which may involve working full time hours (37.5-hour week) for 1 to 2 weeks at a time. Advance notice will be provided.
