The purpose of the post of Lead Structural Integrity Engineer is to support the Head of Nuclear Island in providing adequate control and oversight of the design (including modifications and concessions) with responsibility for review and acceptance of all Structural Integrity aspects of the UK ABWR.


  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a suitable engineering or science subject.
  • Chartered Engineer or Scientist, or have the qualifications and experience to achieve that status.
  • Demonstrates a track record of success, achievement and learning in career to date, adding value within relevant positions.
  • Previous experience of the review and acceptance/adoption of reactor designs and safety cases.
  • Experience of interfacing with Nuclear Regulators on design issues related to Structural Integrity plant to achieve significant agreed business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates considerable knowledge and understanding across a broad range of structural integrity and safety issues.
  • Demonstrates effective planning, prioritisation and delivery skills.
  • People / line management ability.
  • Proven ability to communicate and build productive and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good levels of personal impact, credibility and professional maturity.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, decision making and critical thinking.
