The JV Technical Support Consultant will be key to ensuring Client realizes the most value from its joint ventures and in assessing and influencing those joint venture partners to maximize this.
This role acts as a senior advisor to provide input into valuations of joint venture operations, outputs and performance. This work will be presented at the highest level within the joint ventures and at a high level within client
The JV Technical Support Consultant will need to understand and assess various joint venture outputs (financial reports, commercial deals, business plans, etc.) to judge their viability and make recommendations to Client committees, with the view of ensuring maximum shareholder value from existing or potential JV partners.
The key customers for this role will be Client Corporate Management. This individual will also need to have a high level of involvement with the JV partners. For this reason, they will need to be adept at interfacing effectively with a diverse stakeholder mix, both internally and across the joint ventures.
To be effective in this role, a candidate will need to have a strong technical understanding of downstream markets and asset configurations across refining and petrochemicals, combined with business and commercial acumen, so that they can advise how to optimize the assets in our JV mix.
To be successful in this role, one must be highly-skilled in negotiations, resolving conflicts, and articulating their views in the right way (influencing without direct authority, challenging/responding to challenge in a culturally/politically sensitive manner). Written communications skills are also important as the consultant will need to be able to write briefs and presentations for senior audiences of the highest quality, both in terms of content and in presentation.
Although this is a sole contributor role, having no direct reports, a significant part of the role will be helping, coaching, and mentoring others within the department. This individual will be viewed as an expert within the team, acting as a reference for those less experienced or less specialized.
