Our client is a highly respected service provider within the automotive industry based in Edinburgh.

An existing opportunity has to come to market for an experienced Interim Buyer seeking a 3 to 6 months temporary role.

Day to day here's what you can expect;

  • Procurement management for a defined group of products
  • Developing and utilising supply market intelligence for commercial gain
  • Maximising supplier competition and collaboration opportunities as appropriate
  • Delivering target cost reduction and value improvement opportunities
  • Supplier commercial negotiations Creating procurement strategies
  • Monitoring products and services price movements and maximising cost opportunities as a result.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Ensuring effective management of key supplier performance
  • Using ERP system, manage the placement and rescheduling of purchase orders to maintain supplies
  • Ensure that supplier details and product price information is accurately maintained on the appropriate system
  • Ensure that all relevant supplier details and product price information is accurately maintained on the appropriate system, working closely with the Gatekeeper function to ensure all price lists are updated on a timely basis enabling the correct forward buy investment to be made.
  • Control inventory levels through focused activity on new item management, overstock management and maintenance of parameters to ensure inventory accuracy levels are attained and working capital maximised
  • Constantly review and suggest improvements to processes to bring efficiencies/cost savings to the Supply Chain
  • Develop Supplier Relationships and introduce measurement tools to improve supplier performance

Skills & Experience Required;

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of procurement- including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management.
  • Excellent commercial & business acumen
  • Excellent supplier relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to convince others and influence outcomes.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned targets and objectives.
  • Good working knowledge of Materials MRP/ERP Systems

What's on offer;

  • Competitive Daily Rate c£105 - c£115 (dependant on experience)
  • 3-6 months assignment
