Job Description

  • Technically responsible for all instrument, control and protection systems.
  • Accountable for engineering codes and standards and management of any deviations from standards.
  • Ensuring all project design follows the concept of inherent safety and the risk is ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable).
  • Ensure safety critical equipment is identified and appropriate maintenance, inspection and test plans are in place.
  • Provide assurance to the engineering authority that the management of change process is functioning correctly for modifications or other changes to the equipment systems within the discipline.
  • Ensure project scopes are well defined and suitable.
  • Technical authority for detail design to ensure the contractor completes the project ensuring the integrity of all instrument and control systems whilst maintaining quality, cost control and delivery to schedule.
  • Provide technical engineering oversight during the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up and handover.
  • Interface with operations and maintenance with responsibility for instrument budget allocation and schedule planning.
  • Responsible for the commercial aspects of projects and the project management including the commercial reviews, cost control, scheduling and interface with the clients, contractors and vendors.
  • Oversee Management of Change process for design modifications and their implementation

This Joint Venture organisation hosted by the national oil company of Algeria have a hugely successful track record of developing two of the largest gas fields in sub-Saharan Algeria, one with a production capacity of 9 billion cubic metres per year. Culturally diverse, technically stimulating and environmentally challenging these venture projects still maintain the prospecting outlook of the oil and gas industry.

Personal Specification

  • Minimum Degree level qualification in related engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Also have experience in Engineering design concept design / FEED, detailed design through to and including pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover.
  • Demonstrable experience at Technical Authority / Principal Engineer level with responsibility for the commercial aspects and project management delivery including the commercial reviews, cost control, scheduling and interface with the clients, contractors and vendors.
  • Extensive international project experience in challenging / hostile environments.
