Job description
Our client, a leading international Oil & Gas operator, have a current opportunity for a Installation Engineer S-Lay (Shallow Water) on a contract basis. The position will be based in the Netherlands (full residential) supporting a major LNG project.
- The Installation Engineer S-Lay reports to the Shallow Water Lead and is accountable for the engineering aspects of the Shallow Water Pipelay and Umbilical Lay using the EPCI Contractor barge.
- The SW Installation Engineer S-Lay Is based in Europe (The Netherlands / Paris) and is planned to be stationed on board the vessel during the installation of the trunklines.
- The job holder shall assume responsibility for the S-lay installation scope working in conjunction with his counterparts.The job holder shall work closely with the other Installation Engineers to ensure consistency of approach exists across both the different scopes of work and that the interfaces are managed appropriately.
Activities:
- Ensure safe, on time and within budget delivery of the S-lay related elements of the EPCI scope of work whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life of 30 years.
- Monitor and manage all facets of work within the SW scope of work to ensure that schedule, technical, quality and HSES requirements are, as a minimum, met or improved upon.
- Oversee a readiness process to ensure a progressive preparation is made by both contractor and company towards the start of site activities and that this is documented.
- Bring to the earliest attention, all issues which present a significant threat to the Project and in addition offer mitigating measures / work plans.
- Provide reporting function towards Shallow Water Lead for the SW rigid pipelines installation activities.
- Define, monitor and manage work tasks with external consultants and contractors as required.
- Ensure that all S-lay installation activities are performed in compliance with project technical requirements and are fit for purpose.
- Ensure all marine spread inspection, vetting and follow-up activities are satisfactorily carried out and MWS are engaged in that process.
- Interfacing to ensure that impacts of co-activities are properly managed and minimized.
- Ensure identification and resolution of technical interfaces, in conjunction with other discipline engineers, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure, in conjunction with project HSE department, that all deep-water based scope of work activities is performed in compliance with a high regard to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements.
- Ensure that all shallow-water pipelay activities are performed in compliance with a high regard to Quality Assurance and Control.
Accountabilities
- Engineering of the S-Laid trunklines scope parts of the Shallow Water and S-lay Team during the project preparation and execution phases.
- Safe and on time delivery of the deep-water trunklines scope of work within the EPCI Contract whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life of 30 years.
Qualifications/Experience required
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in engineering of large scale EPCI contracts with significant S-Lay installation experience.
- Experienced and able to assess and analyze an installation spread, contractors' capabilities and challenge the robustness of their overall execution
- planning to deliver a deep-water installation campaign.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in general offshore installation aspects as they relate to pipeline and structure installation.
- Able to oversee and judge interfaces with deep water installation vessels and general offshore construction works.
- Ability to get along well with others in an international / multi-cultural environment and take a pragmatic approach to problem solving situations.
- Ability to multi-task and work as part of small and flexible team.
- Desire to take responsibility for own area of work and to hold self-accountable to deliver in accordance with responsibilities.
- Ability to manage interfaces between multiple contractors.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with contractors and contractor personnel and progress collaborative problem solving.
- Fluency in the English language.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required with geotechnical civil or mechanical engineering preferred.
- BOSIET and OGUK qualifications.
