Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Geoscience Data Management Lead, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Define, prioritise and supervise geoscience data management daily activities, including Data Room requests. Seek to anticipate activity peaks and improve the efficiency of the service provided.
* Responsible for ensuring the integrity and maintenance of all geoscience data assets, including physical items stored with 3rd parties, including project environments.
* Provide stakeholders with visibility of service performance to assure value.
* Resource or coordinate complex data management operational activities and studies to ensure efficient delivery of service.
* Responsible for ensuring CMS documentation is maintained in line with annual TEPUK program, verify consistency with HQ CR/GS documentation. Apply and respect company policies, procedures, standards, and rules (naming conventions, organization, workflows and confidentiality) to ensure the quality of data flow and adherence to deadlines.
* Identify, propose, and implement enhancements to data management workflows and procedures.
* Define and update the geoscience data strategy & roadmap in consultation with local and company stakeholders.
* Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the geoscience section of the Data Management Plan (DMP) together with the OneTech Data Office
* Steer investment and budget for geoscience software and support services with the IS business analyst to ensure efficiencies are achieved without negative business impact.
* Lead GDM projects and geoscience software or database developments with IS, the Assets and OneTech, whilst seeking to minimise Asset impact.
* Define and update the service offering provided, identify optimisation to add value: reduce time and costs or improve delivery quality.
* Explore and suggest opportunities to embed sustainability practices for Geoscience data management.
* Define and implement communication plans with the Asset GSR Managers, Field Leaders and the Corporate GSR Manager to ensure stakeholders are clear on Service Offerings and Value delivery.
* Coach, manage and mentor colleagues to ensure team and individual performance objectives are met.
* Foster the development of a digital orientated culture, highlight competencies needs in order to meet TEPUK and Company Digital/Business transformation objectives.
* Work in partnership with OneTech to ensure Service and Project alignment:
o For SISMAGE support, liaise with SISMAGE-CIG team to ensure a good quality of service for the assets' GSR teams.
o For EXPLO data management, work with the DataTech team and the UK Explo team to ensure service quality and homogenise the data processes.
* Lead the provision of data management application expertise to the geoscience community encouraging best practice use of technologies and data.
* Collaborate with other TEPUK digital and data groups to ensure alignment of processes, standards, best practice and ensure knowledge is passed between all teams.
* Ensure awareness and promotion of industry trends to provide insight and opportunities for enhancing internal services.

Experience & Qualifications:
* At least a BSc degree in Geosciences (Reservoir, geologist), data management or Computer Science disciplines with significant professional experience in an Exploration & Production environment
* Significant knowledge of geoscience data (3G&R) and Information Systems (Windows, Linux, SISMAGE, PETREL, ARCGIS, DBMS, ETL, Python, PBI)
* Proven experience of delivering data management support to geoscience user communities, including the loading, QC, and maintenance of data according to agreed processes.
* Significant experience of project management methodologies and able to manage and monitor project scope delivery
* Proven experience of working within a Power BI based reporting environment including office 365 tools (LIFT).
* Proven knowledge of data quality methods within a broader understanding of data governance principals
* Broad knowledge of data modelling techniques and cloud platforms, features, and capabilities (Microsoft Azure components)
* Organised, methodical and able to multi-task whilst working under tight deadlines
* Behavioural skills: self-motivated, delivery focused with the ability to lead a team to deliver high quality services.
* Flexible or adaptable to change.
* Excellent interpersonal skills required with the ability to build good stakeholder relationships.
