Our client operate with a focus on quality of service and this privately owned business has been growing since its formation over 30 years ago. Working within one of the fastest moving sectors this family run business are based between Surrey and Berkshire, with great transport links, and offers the successful candidate an opportunity to work hands on in a role that will both develop and challenge them.

The Role

The General Manager will be responsible for directing and managing the organisation's business activities and to develop and implement effective business strategies and programs. The business is an inert waste management and aggregates supply business. It also supplies its own construction materials and equipment as well as having their own on site recycling operation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Overseeing daily business operations.
  • Developing and implementing growth strategies.
  • Training low-level managers and staff.
  • Creating and managing budgets.
  • Improving revenue.
  • Hiring employees.
  • Evaluating performance and productivity.
  • Analysing accounting and financial data.
  • Researching and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Generating reports and giving presentations.

Key Skills & Experience Required

The ideal candidate for this role should possess excellent communication skills, superior knowledge of business functions, exceptional budgeting and finance skills, and strong leadership qualities. The noteworthy General Manager should account for all business activities, support staff development, enhance efficiency, drive sales and improve revenue, maintain relationships with clients, enhance the organisation's image, and meet overall growth objectives.

  • Aggregates/ inert waste management or recycling related experience essential. (This is a must!)
  • Good knowledge of different business functions.
  • Strong leadership qualities.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proactive nature.
  • Degree in Business Management or Masters in Business Administration (preferable but not essential)
