Job description
Orion Group are sourcing a FRC Financial Controller on behalf of our client, a global leader in the delivery of offshore projects and services, on a permanent basis in Aberdeen.
What you can expect
The Finance Resource Centre (FRC) is a team of around 60 people delivering Transactional Processing (Accounts Payable and Transactional Treasury), Financial Reporting (Entity accounting, Statutory Accounts and Balance Sheet Reconciliations) and Cost Centre Accounting and Reporting.
To ensure the effectiveness of day-to-day operations the FRC needs skilled employees, best practice processes, and enabling technologies which meet the needs of the various key business stakeholders.
Reporting to the FRC Director, you will manage a team of around 30 people. This position will be responsible for leading the Financial Reporting and Treasury sub-teams.
You will support the FRC Director with the leadership of the FRC to retain a proactive, highly skilled, engaged and cohesive team that provides strong financial support to the business and delivers great service through accurate and timely transactional processing.
Responsibilities:
- The FRC Controller team (of 3) work with the FRC Director to review, refresh and promote the FRC Vision and values. You will work collaboratively with your sub-teams to build a culture that strives for service and process improvement.
- You will ensure that the services provided by the FRC are in line with key business stakeholders' expectations. This responsibility requires effective communication and planning to ensure we have the right sized team to meet business needs. You will have a focus on delivery and results. Planning and executing agreed services and looking beyond the symptoms of operational issues to see the root causes.
- You will ensure that each sub-team adheres to the Group's robust system of financial controls (COSA). You will work with the Group Financial Controls Manager to report compliance with the COSA framework on a quarterly basis.
- You will lead and manage your sub-teams and have line manager responsibility for the Team Leads for each sub-team. You will take an active role in mentoring, coaching, supervising, recruitment and performance management for your sub-teams. You will set the tone for your sub-teams, creating a working environment that attracts, develops and retains valued team members.
- You will proactively identify system improvements both organically and through investment in technology solutions to further drive efficiencies in our processes. Reducing manual processes and the risk of material error. You will be responsible for the proposal of system improvements and escalation of system issues, working with IT / Applications / SAP to prioritise issues and ensure timely resolution.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Accountant CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or overseas equivalent) with significant PQE.
- Strong people management and leadership skills with proven ability to manage, coach and develop a large team.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, with an ability to juggle a number of diverse issues and projects
- Passionate and committed to customer service, process improvement and delivering new systems implementations.
- Highly numerate and analytical with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong accounting and statutory reporting knowledge.
- Knowledge and/or experience of SAP and banking platforms is highly advantageous
- Experience in interfacing with Internal Audit, Treasury, Tax, Legal and IT Functions
