Orion Group are looking for a Finance Analyst for our multinational pharmaceutical client based in the Berkshire area on an initial 4-month contract with the potential to extend.


Job Purpose
This Project Analyst role is part of the Indirect Expense team.
The Regional Financial Accounting Team has responsibility across Indirect Expenses, Employee expenses, Fixed assets, Royalties, Currency, Hedging and Regional Redistribution (RRD).

The Indirect Expense team has responsibility for accurate accounting and reporting of all indirect expenses, largely Open PO Accrual and SG&A (Selling, General & Admin) costs. This project analyst role will help define and run the new Open PO Process for Consumer Plants within the region.


Main Responsibilities of the role

  • Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of the Open PO Accrual according to Worldwide Procedures with the following main areas of focus:
    -Clearly define and document the new Open PO Accrual process.
    -Run the Open PO process for Consumer Plants
    -Generate reports from corporate systems
    -Send emails to PO preparers and track responses
    -Co-ordinate escalations on 'no responses'
    -Consolidate responses to generate monthly accrual
    -Tidy up and investigate old items by liaising with Site Co-ordinators and PO Preparers
    -Identify and implement continuous improvement and standardisation of processes
  • Quarterly Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations:
    -Assist with reviews of account reconciliations
    -Ensure appropriate adjustments are made following the quarter close
  • Proactive partnering with the Reporting team and other teams within the Centre of Excellence
  • Work on ad hoc projects across the CoE as applicable
  • People Management:
    -Contribute to fostering an environment of teamwork, innovation and sharing of ideas
  • Ensure strong internal controls are in place to achieve "adequate" internal and external audit ratings
  • Accurate and timely month-end reporting
  • Meet all corporate and regional deadlines

Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate

  • Part Qualified Accountant, with approximately 2 years of finance and accounting experience
  • Fluent English Essential-Other languages within the EAME region desirable
  • Accounting background
  • Strong Excel skills are essential to success in this role
  • Knowledge of SAP would be desirable
  • Knowledge worldwide procedures would be advantageous
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy with financial information
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills, plus demonstrates drive and a willingness to take ownership for tasks and responsibilities
  • Effective communication, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Customer focused; able to build effective partnerships with internal customers and work as part of a team
