Field Service Engineer


Salary - £30,000 to £36,000 per annum

Location - Arundel, West Sussex

Our client, a successful automotive manufacturer are seeking to source a Field Service Engineer to service clients in South England area. Reporting to the Service Manager the role requires the employee to provide first class support to customers with flexible servicing work including operation, maintenance and cleaning of automotive products.

Key Duties include

  • Commissioning of new vehicles
  • Training Operators and Fitters
  • Repairs and modifications to refuse vehicles
  • Assist and monitor service agents
  • Clean and prepare demo vehicles
  • Demo driving of vehicles
  • Collection and delivery of vehicles
  • Completion of timesheets, site reports and all necessary paperwork pertaining to customer reporting
  • Maintain IT Service Records
  • Promote client Spares Sales, Service Sales and Units Sales through direct customer contact
  • Occasional attendance to Scottish HO to receive and provide training and development
  • Additional ad hoc duties at the request of line manager to ensure the efficiency of the department and business.

Key performance measures

Feedback from customers, timely completion of paperwork, efficiency of service and repairs, condition of vehicles

Given the customer facing nature of this role you will need to be a strong communicator who is proactive in your approach to tasks, and who always seeks to improve processes and controls where possible. You will be confident in adapting your approach depending on your audience and will be assertive enough to promote your ideas within the after sales department and the larger company as a whole. You will be a highly driven and ambitious individual as career prospects beyond this role are eminently achievable.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Experience in a field service engineer role with a demonstrable track record of success.
  • Effective negotiator; Good time management, planning and prioritising skills.
  • Able to analyse facts and make responsible and informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills/ability to give instructions in a clear precise manner.

  • Computer literate, systematic and organised.
  • Able to prepare and present reports in a professional & precise manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
