Engineering Manager, Basingstoke, £70,000 to £80,000

A unique position has come about for an experienced Engineering Manager to run an Oil & Gas production facility near Basingstoke.

You will be accountable for the ongoing suitability of the plant and equipment in terms of design, construction and operation across the Company's Gas storage and Oil production facility, by ensuring up to date and relevant engineering standards are adhered to, and to guarantee safety and integrity of plant and equipment

Principal Responsibilities

  • Management of all existing plant, equipment and projects to ensure compliance against relevant engineering standards, Management System performance standards and legislative requirements

  • Management of plant modifications through supervision of in-house personnel and/or engineering contractors.

  • Preparation and issue of all necessary monthly plant performance to indicate operation within permitted parameters.

  • Liaison with the Operations team to ensure plant faults are rectified within satisfactory period, safely, efficiently and in compliance with necessary regulations.

  • Manage the Maintenance Team during Maintenance Manager absences.

  • Verification and Audit of Maintenance team and systems to ensure compliance against legislative and company standards.

  • Facilitate upgrades to the Safety Management System associated with Engineering and design, ensuring updates are applicable and in line with any legislation change.

  • Manage direct/indirect reports, within Engineering and Projects Department

  • Manage Engineering OPEX and CAPEX budgets

Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering Degree level qualification, ideally in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Chartered engineering membership at member level, or associate level, looking to attain full membership within a minimum period.

  • Excellent understanding of the engineering involved in oil production and gas storage operations.

  • Experienced in the integration of occupational and process safety management into operations.

  • At least 5 years' experience in an engineering supervisory/management role, managing both teams of engineers and external contractors.

  • Experience working with budgets.

  • Ability to train team members in new skills and competencies

  • Strong problem solving skills and decision making.

  • Experience of working in plant operations or interfacing with operations personnel through design in the energy industry

  • Good leadership experience is essential

  • Hours of Work: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday. You may be required to work such additional hours as may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties
