Job description

Job Objective

Responsible for the execution of multi-discipline engineering scope for major projects. Has ultimate responsibility as the technical authority for engineering scope delivery and ensuring the project's integrity and compliance are maintained whilst meeting HSSE, quality, schedule, and budget requirements. Contributes to delivery of engineering excellence through:

  • Driving technical assurance
  • Managing and leading, supporting and supervising the discipline engineering teams
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of technical scope
  • Act as key technical interface with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring Integrity of Engineering and Design is maintained
  • Driving Safety in Design
  • Driving and leading opportunities for improvement & innovation

The role

  • Managing and leading, supporting and supervising the multidiscipline engineering team
  • Coordinate and manage the interface with other managers (Project Director, Project Manager, Project Delivery manager, Procurement Manager etc.) to ensure the organization and project goals are achieved
  • Monitors compliance with regulations, standards and processes
  • Management of Engineering Contractor technical delivery i.e. scope, schedule, quality, and man-hours
  • Carries responsibility for resolution of major technical issues within the engineering scope
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the activities and operations of a multidiscipline engineering team
  • Oversight and control of Engineering Histogram to support workforce planning
  • Roll out and Implementation of learning opportunities from across the business
  • Driving continual focus on safety through the engineering team
  • Identifies and mitigates areas of risk
  • Identifies and pursues improvement opportunities
  • Provide input in strategic technical decisions and solutions
  • Assist in the management of recruitment, selection, transfers, performance management, succession planning and promotion of resources to meet engineering team requirements
  • Ensuring appropriately resourced and competent engineering personnel on the project
  • Assist in setting and maintaining standards for the development and retention of motivated and competent people
  • Management of key stakeholders (internal and external) in the execution and delivery of engineering
  • Develop and maintain key engineering management procedures and plans
  • Responsible for the engineering content of project execution plans for assigned projects
  • Manage and direct resources efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure conformance to Management of Change process
  • Assign, co-ordinate, review and approve engineering scope
  • Monitor and control of engineering delivery e.g. man-hours, completion date, resource allocation etc.
  • Provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work
  • Assist in identifying and requesting functional support for engineering team as required
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the project department
  • Directs the application of existing principles and the development of new polices, plans and strategies aligned with project objectives
  • Determining the need for training and talent development

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's or MS degree in any engineering discipline
  • Engineering Manager or similar roles in a Major Project(s) based environment.
  • Expert knowledge of Greenfields Onshore & Offshore Oil & Gas engineering delivery from front-end through execution.
  • Proven experience of offshore jacket, wellhead platform, offshore pipeline and umbilical design
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of engineering theories and techniques and a high level of skill in application of this knowledge in the management of the engineering function
  • In-depth technical understanding of key engineering disciplines, interfaces and sequencing
  • Skilled in forecast planning for people resources
  • Skilled in recruitment and selection, employee communication and management including performance management
  • Able to implement and apply standards and processes to ensure delivery of engineering excellence
  • Able to carry out audit and incident investigations
  • Project Management expertise
