Enabling Works Design Manager

The purpose of the Dock Enabling Works Design Manager post is:

To manage the delivery and co-ordinate the Enabling Works design packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost, in support of the client's Dock Enabling Works Programme

Principal tasks and responsibilities are:
Develop, lead, manage and co-ordinate the technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management decisions.
Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
To plan and implement project design and safety approach which is compatible with Design and Safety Policy/Standards including BIM, based on a sound understanding of business/project arrangements.
Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with client's Business Management System and MIP Design & Safety Manual.
Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks (Health, Safety & Environmental) associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
Ensure design information is articulated to the Dock Safety Case Manager to enable appropriate justification of the engineering / activities within LC22 change submissions
Liaise with Engineering Services Technical Authority to ensure that Relevant Good Practice is employed.


A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.

Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council

Nuclear: NUC0793 Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1.
NUC0794 Nuclear Fundamentals (Foundation) Course Module 2.
NUC0911 Introduction to Safety Engineering (ITSE)
