My client is looking for an Electrical Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a global leading manufacturing company, based in Greenock. This role will report into the Facilities Engineering Manager and be based in Greenock.

The successful candidate will assist in the operation and maintenance of the site's electrical infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable delivery of power.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills / knowledge however where gaps exist training will be provided by other Site Electrical Engineer, and / or by external training bodies: -

  • Sound understanding of electrical distribution systems
  • Knowledge of electrical plant & equipment typical of a building services / facilities department e.g. UPS, lighting systems, fire detection systems, back-up power generation systems, HVAC plant & controls
  • Sound understanding of electrical distribution systems
  • Experience of Permit to Work systems
  • Experience of maintenance / repair activities on electrical plant and equipment
  • Possess a good understanding of relevant legislation and be aware of statutory requirements in connection with electrical installation / maintenance activities
  • Ability to understand electrical drawings and fault find on electrical plant and equipment
  • Good communication skills with the ability to organise tasks, develop work packages and successfully oversee to completion
  • Experience of liaising with and organising maintenance / installation contractors
  • Experience of working as a High Voltage Authorised Person. (if not experienced in this aspect, the candidate must be willing to undertake training to become an HV Authorised Person for the site)
  • Project management experience (desirable but not essential)

You will receive day-to-day guidance from the Facilities Engineering Manager and assistance from other site Engineers. Necessary training on existing systems will be provided, so a willingness to learn and train is required. You will be expected to deal with problem situations as they occur in addition to carrying out pro-active maintenance and ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and updated. You will be expected to communicate with engineers, managers and external contractors / suppliers to resolve problems and to provide guidance to Diodes personnel.


You must have served a recognised electrical apprenticeship, and Ideally you will have all of the following, but training will be funded and supported in any gap areas as required:

  • HNC / HND or an equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline combined with experience in electrical maintenance.
  • IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS 7671
  • Inspection and Testing C&G 2391 or C&G 2395-0
  • C&G 6037 HV Systems Operations

In this role you will be required to work a 40 hour week, Mon - Fri, 08:30 to 17:00
