Working in Technology and Defence in Glasgow, you will be involved in delivering design, analysis and assessment projects in a multi-discipline environment. The team includes a wealth of experience and expertise in the design and substantiation of nuclear safety related equipment. Sharing of knowledge and learning of new skills is actively encouraged.

Your responsibilities will include:
* To be a recognised discipline expert in electrical engineering, in the construction industry, for example in the building services, process, energy or water industries, and to take on a lead role in the development of solutions to project issues relating to electrical engineering
* Electrical engineering discipline lead in large projects, and leading smaller projects focused on electrical engineering
* Technical quality and excellence of your work and the work of those working under you
* Technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior engineers and technicians
* Communication with clients and other design team members
* Project planning, delivery and financial performance
* business development activities including electrical engineering aspects of proposals
* Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems
* Operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture

Qualifications

Essential:
* To have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of the design of electrical engineering low and medium voltage systems found in construction projects and to be familiar with the relevant UK and European standards and industry best practice
* To have an understanding of the application of one or several computer based analysis tools, for example, Amtech
* To have a working knowledge of the application of BIM in construction projects and the management of model and drawing production for cable containment systems
* Good verbal and written communication, and report writing skills
* Ability to lead design aspects of projects including managing quality, budget, programme and resources
* Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members
* Chartered Engineer with a recognised UK Institution or be working towards chartered status

Desired:
* Good, accredited MEng degree
* To have a working knowledge of control and instrumentation, and protection systems used within mechanical engineering systems
* To be familiar with the functional safety requirements described in either BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511 or BS IEC 61513
* To have a background understanding of the principles of nuclear safety as applied on both civilian and military applications
* A background understanding of the principles of nuclear safety as applied on both civilian and military applications
* Experience of working on a nuclear licensed site in some capacity and to be familiar with the safety and quality standards that are expected
