Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Our client is a leading manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals with more than 15,000 employees and operations in 50 countries.

Increasing demand from our client's products and services is driving investment and growth in their business, and supporting an expanding project portfolio has created an outstanding opportunity for a talented engineer with significant industry experience to join the team as Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer.

This is a permanent staff appointment offering the successful candidate a chance to own electrical commissioning in the EMEA region and support development for electrical commissioning globally.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing technical leadership and governance, support and decision making in the field of electrical equipment and systems, so that plant operation is both safe and economic.
  • Using business judgement in making technical evaluations and recommendations, advising on Commissioning techniques, generating work instructions, re-usable Commissioning Procedures, start-up checklists and templates.
  • Liaising with the Start-Up Manager, Project Manager or Global functional electrical owner on project-specific issues or any commissioning or safety-related issues.
  • Providing site leadership in EH&S ensuring prompt prioritisation and coordination of all risks, issues and unforeseen issues at the site, escalating as required.
  • Providing routine reports on-site status and issues for management.

This is a site and office-based role, it is expected that the incumbent may visit sites within Europe, Africa and the Middle East supporting other Electrical Commissioning resources. Office-based tasks will include reviewing isolation and switching procedures, electrical check sheet generation and approvals.

What we'll be looking for

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering underpinned with significant experience in a similar related role and environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in commissioning and maintenance of high, medium, and low voltage electrical distribution systems on large process plants. Experience in large industrial gas processing facilities will be highly regarded.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and the ability to direct and motivate team members to achieve successful outcomes under challenging commissioning schedules.
  • Highly effective planning and communication skills to ensure timely completion of deliverables and accurate progress reporting.
