Roles & Responsibilities (main functions)
EHS Officer Reporting Directly to the EHS Manager & Deputising for EHS Manager
Note: In addition to duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by Management from time to time

The role of the EHS Officer is to establish maintain effective Health & Safety plus Environmental systems, ensuring that the plant operates at the highest standards of Health and Safety while ensuring compliance with H&S and Environmental legislation.
The roles and responsibilities of this role typically includes:
H&S
* Ensuring suitable organisational arrangements are in place to achieve the policy's objectives.
* Development of a positive Health & Safety Culture throughout the Company.
* Work closely with Line Management to ensure they effectively implement Health & Safety procedures and support as required ensuring they discharge their statutory duties to operate a compliant Health & Safety workplace.
* Develop the Company Health & Safety Management System ensuring that procedures are implemented on a systematic basis in order to deliver a compliant working environment.
* Audit the Health & Safety Management System to determine progression and compliance with current and proposed legislation.
* Develop, monitor and evolve Health & Safety Audit Protection Procedures on behalf of the Company ensuring compliance with legislation and that work activities have no detrimental effects on employees and non-employees.
* Liaise with enforcement agencies and legal representatives in matters of Health & Safety compliance and litigation.
* Maintain plus evolve the Companies Health and safety Programmes
* Ensure training is provided to the appropriate team
* Liaise with Group H&S Affairs personnel

Environmental
* Ensuring suitable organisational arrangements are in place to achieve the policy's objectives.

* Work closely with Line Management to ensure they effectively implement Environmental procedures and support as required ensuring they discharge their statutory duties to operate a compliant Environmental workplace.
* Development of an effective Company Environmental Management System ensuring that procedures are implemented on a systematic basis in order to deliver a compliant working environment, with focus on Waste, Water, Air quality and Pollution.
* Audit the Environmental Management System and practice to determine progression and compliance with current and proposed legislation.
* Develop, monitor and evolve the Environmental Audit Protection Procedures on behalf of the
* Company ensuring compliance with legislation and that work activities have no detrimental effects on employees, non-employees and the local environment.
* Liaise with enforcement agencies (SEPA) and legal representatives in matters of Environmental compliance and litigation.
* Maintain plus improve ISO 14001 certification
* Ensure training is provided to appropriate team
* Liaise with Group Environmental Affairs personnel

General
* Communicate effectively with all people in the H&S/Environmental department ensuring they are fully briefed and consulted as appropriate, extended to all Site Employees.

Qualification(s) / Experience
Education
* Educated to degree level or relevant experience.

Experience
* A proven communicator and implementer. We must see evidence that the candidate can influence those over whom he/she does not have direct authority.
* Interpersonal skills must allow the successful candidate to not only influence people internally but also to relate effectively to our employees, contractors and regulators.
* Experience of ISO 14001 and ISO18001product certification preferred.
* Evidence of training in Safety & Environmental plus previous successes
* Confident in use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel Spreadsheets.
