Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Drilling Engineer, based in Aberdeen.

Responsibilities:
* Perform work scope of drilling engineer within Wells Department.
* Responsible for pre-planning support comprising Landmark engineering modelling, liaison with service providers and contractor, arranging Peer Reviews & Risk Assessments.
* Assist the project team in subsurface planning of wells & Decision Support Package development, technical limit & benchmarking, cost estimates, OMAR notifications and other permits. Provide drilling engineering support including development of detailed well design, programmes and a drill the well on paper exercise.
* Attend offshore visits/support during the well execution phase.
* Complete well lookbacks and final well reports post execution phase. Attend key interface meetings with Assets and Contractors to support well planning and execution.
* Be a role model for safety leadership.
* Interface with supporting groups to develop detailed studies needed to support project readiness. Example of these studies will be well bore stability, drilling fluid selection, completion design, subsea tree selection, etc.
* Support well design and execution performance improvement efforts. Assist in well integrity issues and risk assessments where appropriate.
* Provide contract management control and technical support.

Experience & Qualifications:
* Industry recognised academic qualification (degree or equivalent) or comparable industrial experience. Engineering degree preferred.
* Well control certification at subsea supervisor level.
* Ability to design and prepare directional and ERD drilling programs for platform and MODU wells, including pore pressure prediction, casing design, drill string design, Risk Assessments, Torque - Drag predictions, fluids, cement selections, etc.
* Experience in offshore North Sea Major Capital Project support is not a must have but is an advantage.
* Effective in providing day to day operational support to the Senior Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent during assigned well operations. Constantly seeks to optimize all aspects of the operations, and capture and analyse lessons learned, for consolidation and application to other wells. Ability to develop and support Well Design and Execution Performance Improvement Plans.
* Able to identify and implement technology or operational improvement. Can champion new technologies and application of innovative approaches.
* Works well with others in a multi-functional team environment. Able to interact effectively with peers, Partners, Government Officials and service and contractor representatives.
