Development Scientist - Senior
Miami, FL
6+ month initial contract
Hourly Rate: $35-40/hr

Orion Group is seeking an experienced Development Scientist to work onsite in Miami, FL for our premiere Medical Device manufacturing client. The Senior Development Scientist participates in the evaluation and implementation of externally developed new technologies that improve internal processes.

Job Responsibilities:
* The incumbent plans and/or performs studies for the development, evolution and optimization of assay(s) within well-defined boundary conditions and timelines
* Characterize and verify flow cytometry systems and manufacturing processes including the hardware, software and reagent elements of these systems.
* performs and summarizes experiments independently
* participates in identifying technical issues and recommending resolution
* maintains well organized laboratory notebooks in compliance with relevant procedures
* supports post-launch to resolve performance and/or quality issues
* may supervise junior scientists; and may publish articles in scientific journals to advance the company's marketing competitiveness.

Boundary Conditions/Authority Levels:
* Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
* May develop and track project plans
* Performs and summarizes experiments independently
* Recommends changes
* Adheres to policies and procedures

QUALIFCATIONS:
* M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering.
* Knowledge and experience in reagent manufacturing and development.
* Experience with technical writing.
* Experience with cell and tissue culture.
* Experience with LS 13320, Multisizer, Counter Z2, and Vi-CELL.
* Experience with pH meter, osmometer, and microscopy.
* Experience with quality systems including International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Good Laboratory Practice, and Good Manufacturing Practice.
* Experience with collecting, organizing, interpreting, and presenting research data
* Possesses In-depth knowledge and experience in Fluorescence Imaging, Flow Cytometry and basic knowledge of related disciplines
* Understands and adheres to GLP, GMP, and other best practices
* Applies analytical skills and independent judgment to develop innovative, practical and consistent solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
