I am currently recruiting for a Construction Design Manager to be based in the North of Scotland working for a Major Contractor.

Responsibilities:
* Manage the development of all Contractor design within the project
* Ensuring strict adherence to all design and build procedures.
* Ensure the design and delivery programme is adhered to at all times
* Identify and escalate any risk issues to senior management
* Co-ordinate external contractors with the Design team
* Develop and finalise various works packages
* Ensure the external contractor's elements of the project are developed in accordance with the project specifications and drawings achieving the desired quality.
* Effectively manage and co-ordinate sub-contractors works packages and design information flow
* Liaise with the statutory authorities, local community and other agencies affected by the design as required.
* Chair Co-ordination Meetings and Subcontractor Design Meetings and any other such meetings as necessary
* Produce timely Minutes of Meetings.
* Responsible for contract administration for the contractor's design portion packages
* Assist in providing monthly internal and external site performance reports covering design, design development, risk and procurement / off site manufacture.
* Ensure the CDP contractors adhere to all current legislation for health, safety, welfare and environmental matters.
* Assist the commercial team with subcontract issues and any divergence from the tendered bid

Qualifications:
* Degree qualified preferably in a construction related subject
* Extensive experience in a similar design role
* Membership of a professional body
* Experience of managing a high value contract
* Proven experience of managing contractor design elements/ D&B works
* Ability to communicate at all levels
* Holds SMSTS and CSCS card.
* Organisational skills
* Strong man-management skills
* Excellent IT skills
