Our Client

Our client, a leading utilities business based South of Edinburgh is currently seeking a Data Protection Officer to join their legal and compliance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be the "go to" person for all internal stakeholders to guide and support them on a wide variety of data protection matters
  • You will be the main point of contact and work with supervisory authorities
  • Liaise and work closely with the teams in legal, compliance and information security to ensure the business is compliant with data protection laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance and provide practical commercial ad operational advice in relation to GDPR and all other data related laws and regulations
  • Take the lead on reporting and managing any data breaches

Skills, Experience & Qualities

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced data protection professional and/or a qualified solicitor with experience of being a DPO. You will have a first class understanding of data protection and the ability to ensure these are applied to the business. It is essential that you are a personable team player who can translate complex legislation or legal advice into clear and easily understood business focused guidance.

Experience within the energy or a consumer focused regulated industry is highly desirable as is experience gained from a law firm at qualified solicitor level.
