The purpose of this post is to play a lead role in ensuring that an end-to-end cost management approach is applied across the Portfolio, Programmes, Sub-Programmes and Delivery Areas, and that cost management activity is optimised, working also to ensure that the supply chain is upholding 'fit for purpose' cost management standards.



  • Demonstrates a track record of success, achievement and learning in career to date, adding value within relevant positions.
  • Extensive Programme and/or Project Controls experience that has been gained in large, complex project environments, whether operations, maintenance, capital or revenue.
  • Significant experience in implementation of new cost management solutions, including development of key performance indicators, limits systems and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of project governance, assurance and delivery management frameworks, the company Value Assurance Process and company's Project Management & Project Controls processes and relevant support arrangements; provides support to project teams to develop their cost estimates and coast management plans in compliance with functionally defined requirements.
  • Provides assurance that project cost management activities are robust prior to gate decision points.
  • Demonstrates excellent stakeholder relationship management and interpersonal skills with an ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to ensure delivery through and with others to agreed standards, deadlines and budget.
  • Excellent analysis capabilities coupled with a reliable structured method of working.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office and appropriate cost management tools and systems.
  • High levels of personal impact and influence.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and decision making.
  • Ability to learn, adapt and thrive, delivering value in a changing and evolving organisation.
  • Demonstrates consistently high leadership standards and sets an inspiring personal example through actively demonstrating and living the company's Vision, Values and behaviours when they are implemented.
  • Flexibility and mobility to undertake business travel as required.


  • Knowledge of company, its needs and requirements.
  • Knowledge of nuclear new builds.
  • Experience of working in a high hazard environment.
  • Used to working in multi-cultural environments.
