COST ENGINEER - EV Charging Network Project
We have an exciting opportunity for a COST ENGINEER with our client, one of the world's largest energy companies and a pioneer in the rollout of EV charging networks. This is a temporary assignment based in London and currently offered on a PAYE / Umbrella basis.
Purpose of role
Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and operation of a comprehensive cost control system, including day-to-day cost tracking and forecasting activities, performance management and reporting, and the integration of cost inputs from internal and third-party sources into the overall cost engineering process and in conformance with Cost Engineering and Project Coordination procedures.
Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role
* Prepare, maintain, and ownership of Cost Control, including but not limited to budgets, commitments, VOWD, forecasting, change control and cost phasing. The standard outputs will then be provided to Management.
* Consults with and advises department management and accounting personnel on a wide range of cost accounting
* Rigorously maintain Change Control visibility ensuring approved, pending, and Risks / Opportunities are also included and documented.
* Analyse data to understand variances from the plan and the impact of actual performance on total costs.
* Support the PC Leads in the overall delivery of cost engineering services and key business processes such as EPR (Execute Performance Review) and GFO (Group Financial Outlook).
* Support all cost-related Digital Initiatives.
* Ensure correct coding of all requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, invoices, estimates, and service work orders.
* Ensure contractor compliance with contractual cost control requirements and those detailed within the Project Coordination Procedures (PCP).
* Support requests for ad hoc data, data analysis, and presentation materials.
* Maintain and report Project KPIs for senior leadership
Experience & Expertise (essential & desired)
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
* Ability to work under own initiative, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines
* Experience working as a cost engineer within a large organisation or project
* High level of self-motivation.
* Advanced influencing and communication skills.
* Ability to develop and present quality presentations to all levels of an organisation
* Excellent skill using Microsoft suite of tools, SAP and PowerBi
* Able to work hybrid working pattern with 60/40 split between central London office and home
Desirable criteria & qualifications
* Experience in EV-related industries
* Membership in a recognised professional body
