This leading consultancy requires a Contracts Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that the procurement activities of the business are carried out lawfully, in accordance with company governance and procedures and in a manner that will deliver best value to the business in meeting its objectives. You will be managing tenders in accordance with EU and UK law and company standards and procedures and making recommendations for contract award based upon an evaluation of commercial and contractual elements of bids. You will develop systems to provide early warning to the senior management team of potential contractual / commercial issues and will develop and implement in conjunction with project managers robust claims mitigation and claims management strategies, monitor the commercial performance of suppliers and advising the senior management team of areas of weakness in the supply chain and recommending actions to safeguard the delivery of the business objectives, leading commercial negotiations with suppliers regarding changes to, or additional services under contracts.
Supporting other team members in the development of operational and project procurement strategies and subsequent approval of strategies, deliver contract documents and procurement strategies that achieve the optimal balance of retained and transferred operational and project risk Responsible for ensuring that an audit trail of decisions relating to the award and variation of contracts exists and is maintained in accordance with company records management policies, responsible for ensuring that all commercial and payment related issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
You will be Degree qualified in a relevant discipline or extensive experience in a rail or construction commercial management environment, membership of an appropriate professional body, extensive knowledge of standard form contracts and their uses with a particular emphasis on NEC3, extensive knowledge of procurement methods and how they impact upon the transfer of risk between parties, knowledge of the legal interpretation of contract terms, knowledge of the EU procurement rules, knowledge of claims management, arbitration and adjudication procedures.
