Temp-To-Perm (Usually after 1040 hours)
Austin, TX
Hourly Rate: $36/hr
Shift: M-F, 8-5

Orion Group is seeking a Continuous Improvement Lead to work onsite in Austin, TX for our premiere medical device manufacturing client. This is an exciting contract to hire opportunity which will turn into a permanent role for the right person!


The Continuous Improvement (CI) Lead II is responsible for driving CI activities across the value stream. This role requires individuals who are creative, results oriented with strong problem-solving skills who can influence change using objective evidence. The position demands a self-driven individual who is comfortable navigating the inherent challenges that come with implementing change and challenging the status-quo. Additionally, the position requires the ability to uncover opportunities using data analysis, prioritizing activities, proposing ideas, obtaining buy-in from stakeholders and implementing the proposed ideas.


As a key member of the Operational Excellence team, you will turn ideas into reality by working with functional area managers, Supervisors and Operators to adopt processes, tools, methods and best practices to achieve a world class operation


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Coach functional leaders on leading in an OpEx environment including:
o ¬ Leading performance board huddles.
o ¬ Performing Gemba walks.
o ¬ Using problem-solving tools and methods.
* Design implement and/or improve data collection plans when required
* Define, create and track KPIs to measure improvements
* Lead Continuous Improvement Events using Lean Six Sigma tools, including but not limited to statistical analyses, Kaizen events, Process Mapping, VSM , RCA, SMED, FMEA, 5S, Visual Management, PDCA, Kanban, Standard Work.
* Perform data analysis on existing data sets to uncover opportunities.
* Perform Area Transformations ("mini-t"), employee training, lean project management, etc.
* Provide suggestions to site OpEx Manager/Director on process improvement ideas.
* Work on special projects as assigned or required.


Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
* Microsoft Office.
* Working Knowledge of Oracle (preferred).
* Able to effectively communicate results verbally and written.


Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or bachelor's degree and relevant work experience.
* Minimum 2 year of Lean Six Sigma application, 3+ years preferred.
* Certified Lean Professional preferred.
* Green Belt Certification, preferred.
* Leadership experience in functional area, preferred.


Minimum Qualifications:
Must have previous experience with continuous improvement or OpEx.
Travel Requirements:
* Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
* This position operates in both, an office environment using standard office equipment and in clean room environment standing up.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time; depending on the machine they are operating.
