Job description

The Communication Specialist exists in order for the COMPANY team to meet critical project milestones and deploy clean energy in the New York Bight.

The Communication Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Executing, managing, and tracking a strategic communications plan
  • Developing hyper-local and state-wide positioning strategy and sponsorship targets
  • Editing, managing, and maintaining content for the project website
  • Developing and executing webinars and virtual town halls
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement with content and local media analysis and media tracking
  • Managing all digital outreach platforms (Mailchimp, Sprout, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
  • Managing paid media content efforts and placement per platform/market
  • Drafting media content
  • Developing graphics and visuals for social media, digital content, and draft offline collateral (marketing materials, slide decks, one-pager fact sheets, etc.)
  • Coordinating event participation and prep needs
  • Managing ongoing competitor tracking initiative
  • Editorial writing and content development for website and social
  • Supporting message development and content for talking points
  • Internal communications and team guidance regarding message, brand guidelines and content development

  • Bachelor's degree required with a preference in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, or Journalism.
  • Experience in a public relation, corporate or state/federal government communications, media relations or media role.
  • Experience with external advocacy campaigns utilizing a variety of earned social and paid media tactics.
  • Experience with marketing and communications strategies or advocacy campaigns.
  • Brand management experience
  • Knowledge and experience managing digital media platforms and developing engaging content.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite, CRM, MailChimp, Adobe Photoshop or similar, website editing; graphic design skills are a plus.
  • Experience in reporting and analysis on the effectiveness of external communications campaigns, including Google analytics.
  • Ability to nurture strong relationships with local media outlets in New York and New Jersey.
  • Ability to analyze media coverage, tone, and public narratives on relevant issues.
  • Excellent writing, research, and presentation skills across various mediums.
  • Demonstrated an ability to work independently and establish clear and measurable objectives while prioritizing and organizing a varied workload.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within teams.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with climate and clean energy issues preferred.
