Welder, Plymouth, £19 per hour Ltd

We have an initial 3 month contract working at Devonport for an experienced Welder (Lloyds or EN287).


  • Undertake the structural alterations or build modules by following engineering drawings on naval surface ships and submarines.
  • Competent to work within multi - trade teams to co - ordinate these structural alterations.
  • Read drawings, interpret work instructions and perform the work to time, cost and quality.
  • Ability to align, prepare the weld joint and then weld structural seam to a specified weld procedure. The thickness of the materials is typically 8mm-24mm.
  • Ability to use basic gouge and edge preparation through grinding.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, guillotines, and band saws.
  • Weld processes which are used are MMA, MIG Flux-core and occasionally TIG in mainly carbon steel and stainless. They tested at either Lloyds or EN287.
  • Cleaning up of own work arising.
  • Slinging duties as required.
  • Any other task within the individual's competence as directed by the company.

Contract is for 36 hours per week, initial 3 month contract.

This role is commutable from Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Tavistock, Exeter, Saltash. Please note you will need to undergo SC and present copies of any relevant trade certificates.
