CAD Administrator

Location: Wellingborough, Northants
Start Date: Must start 18th September
Duration/: 2-3 months (potential to extend to 4-6 months)

Role Details:

The key responsibility is to complete and correct a database, in Excel format, of street lighting assets. This is done by inspecting and reading AutoCAD drawings, survey photos, Google Maps images, and other asset information records. We are working through approximately 50,000 assets in Cambridgeshire, and once that is complete we will be starting the same process with approximately 60,000 Northamptonshire assets.

Day-to-day is as above.

  • The task requires concentration and technical awareness. It can be repetitive but it is also challenging, as there are many different scenarios and varying levels of data errors and omissions in our existing database.
  • During a day the applicant will work through a number of 'scheme' drawings, which normally contain 10-20 streets, each with anywhere from 1-100 street lighting units, all of which are itemised on the spreadsheet.
  • Each asset requires 50+ lines of information collecting about it, most of which are completed but they need checking, and any missing lines completed.
  • Mostly, the missing lines relate to information about additional attachments, such as signs.

Essential criteria:

  • Some knowledge of AutoCAD software is fundamental.
  • No drawing or design work is required, but the applicant should be comfortable looking at and manipulating drawings.
  • A level of technical/engineering skill would be expected.
  • The applicant must have a very keen eye for detail, be able to remain focused and have a problem-solving mentality.
  • Initial training will be provided but the applicant will be expected to quickly work with minimal supervision.
