Our client is a leading Dutch shipping company committed to the supply of seismic vessels and offshore marine operations . We are seeking a talented Buyer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our continued success.

Job Description:

As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of goods and services for our vessels. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Consulting suppliers and agents to identify and select suitable vendors.
  • Verifying vessel requisitions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Requesting and evaluating proposals from suppliers regarding costs and quality.
  • Managing the shipment of goods to vessels.
  • Preparing and checking pro-forma and final invoices.
  • Overseeing the management of vessel stores.
  • Collaborating with other departments on procurement-related matters.
  • Providing guidance to crew members on inventory management and processes.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Participating in staff meetings and other company events.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement or purchasing.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of shipping and logistics processes.
  • Understanding of company SMS and QHSE standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
  • Verify orders, requisitions, and invoices for accuracy.
  • Request and negotiate quotations with suppliers.
  • Coordinate the timely delivery of requisitions to vessels.
  • Maintain and update the authorized supplier database.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and address any deviations.
  • Adhere to company SMS and QHSE policies and standards.
