Associate Scientist II (Wet Chemistry, Formulations and Process Development Lab)
Location: North Chicago, IL
6 month initial contract
Hourly Pay Rate: $29-32/hr

Orion Group is seeking an Associate Scientist to join our global pharmaceutical client's team onsite in North Chicago, IL. This will be an onsite laboratory-based position. Seeking an individual who has strong wet lab skills to contribute in a formulation and process development lab. The Associate Scientist will independently generate reproducible data in a timely manner and demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills in the pharmaceutical formulation and process development space.


Major Responsibilities:
* Perform routine tasks competently and independently, and generate reliable and consistent
* results.
* Analyze and critique results, noting significant deviations. Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation.
* Learn and understand new experimental techniques. Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.
* Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.
* Demonstrate technical proficiency in his/her field.
* Impact projects predominantly through lab activities.
* Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct and safety.


Must Have Qualifications:
* Must possess a BS in BA/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences or molecular biology, biochemistry, and related fields with at least one to two years of relevant laboratory experience.
* Wet lab skills (mixing formulations, pipetting, physical characterization of samples)
* Electronic lab notebook usage and experiment documentation including strong organizational skills
* Ability to pickup new bench techniques quickly - working with emulsion systems and organic solvents
* Independent problem solving, experiment design, and technical trouble shooting skills
* Knowledge of GMP, ISO, and FDA regulations and audits a plus.
* Familiar with process and test method validations.
* Analytical method experience (chromatography, etc) is highly preferred.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Shall be able to perform under pressure to meet project deadlines.
* Must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills and be a team player.
