Asset Engineer

To assist the Operations and Maintenance Manager in establishing and overseeing day-to-day on-site operations and asset management activities for the following primary components of physical infrastructure. An HVDC converter station in Kent and an HVDC converter station in France. A 51 km direct current cable system and a 15 km underground alternating current cable system

The successful candidate will work as part of the Commercial and Regulation team, responsible for operating, commercialising and optimising the asset and ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role at an interconnector, windfarm, transmission system operator or power generator

Good knowledge of operational and maintenance requirements for HVDC interconnectors

Good understanding of the link between technical and commercial performance and the benefit / impact of revenue

Experience in managing Contractors

Support the Operations and Maintenance Manager in working closely with external parties, including EPC and O&M contractors, grid operators, to establish the organisational structure, systems, operational procedures and plans, processes, technical tools and interfaces necessary to dispatch, operate, maintain and repair the interconnector

Oversee the development and delivery of an asset management system, including asset register and spare parts inventory.

Review and comment on safety, health and environmental management processes, operation and maintenance policies and manuals, security arrangements, contingency procedures and emergency response plans prepared by the appointed operations and maintenance service providers.

Participate in training provided by the EPC contractors in order to be fully conversant with the equipment installed on the sites as well as be able to operate the link, should the need ever arise.

Participate as the representative in any incident investigation that is undertaken by any of our contractors, with particular emphasis on any safety or asset / operational incidents

Responsible for the planning of outages in conjunction with O&M Service providers and the subsequent co-ordination with all parties.

Co-ordinate, in conjunction with the O&M Service Providers, trips and forced outages, return to service, operational security incidents and emergency response.

Identify and highlight areas to achieve continuous improvement of operational procedures, systems and processes.
