932189 - Application Development Engineer

We are currently working with our client to recruit an Application Development Engineer

The main purpose of the role is to wrking within the exisiting IT team to assist in the development and in-service support of the software component of the groups internal resources. As the focal point you will be responsible to guide users in using the software and setting up as required.

Duties will include

  • Develop and support internal applications for the use of the employees the Group and its subsidiaries
  • Utilise existing toolsets to help with monitoring and scripting of IT services and Infrastructure
  • Support users of our existing CRM, Accounts, and ERP packages
  • Develop and deploy tools and reports to aid users in their utilisation of our systems
  • Ability to be flexible and aid the rest of the team if required
  • Ability to design and deploy projects from start to finish including reporting and evaluating outcomes
  • Identify areas for modification and continuous improvement in existing programs and subsequently develop these modifications.
  • Provide training in-house and to users on internal software products as required.
  • Test proposed software purchases to ensure they meet the needs of the Group
  • Identify areas of improvements to increase efficiencies within business processes and procedures.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Proven ability to work independently on complex software and database issues.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Proven ability to write software.
  • Ability to interact with customers in order to develop an understanding of their requirements.
  • Knowledge in some/all of the following: HTML5, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, MSSQL, C or derivative, Python, Visual Basic (VB), Bash, PowerShell, .NET
  • Awareness of technology / software.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Good organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an SME IT environment
  • Experience developing software.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Experience with Greentree or Orderwise software although not pre-requisite
